Mother Coca / Madre Coca

I dreamt of you, you were dissolved within her.

Within her, you were ethereal and light, you were dry leaves floating with the wind into spirals of white smoke, awakened through her millenary and wise motherly spirit.

Within her, you embraced yourself with her wavy long black hairs, each one made of thoughts and profound reflection.

Within her, you learnt how to feel the meaning of words before giving birth to them, how to hear our forefathers’ voices before these reach the light.

Within her, you savoured the dark and bitter honey of the first signs of healing, invoked by our ancestors, sheltered by the loving fire of our indigenous tradition.

And as I awakened, you readied yourself for the green leaf, whilst she sculpted silhouettes and forms for the circle of words yet to occur.

Madre Coca
